Everything Embedded

Our district uses Schoology as our Learning Management System.  As an educator, I love it!  I cannot say enough good things about how well Schoology interacts with so many other online tools making it user friendly for educators, learners, and parents.  One particular aspect I have been focusing on recently is embedding resources in Pages.  I put together this help sheet and video tutorial to hopefully share a little embed code love!

Getting There Faster with Less Clicks!

I want to access my information quickly.  If I can find a way to click less and get somewhere more I will do it!  So, when educators asked me how they could customize their Schoology dashboard and I wanted to find out!  Watch this video tutorial and speed up your accessing time!

Schoology and Google Assignments!

Chocolate and peanut butter.  Pancakes and syrup.  Campfires and s'mores.  Somethings were just made to be together.  Schoology and Google were too!  There is a great feature in Schoology where you are able to link a Google Document (Docs, Slides, Sheets, Drawings) through an assignment that will automatically create a copy of the document in a designated folder on your Drive!  You don't have to change the share settings or email a link.  It's all done with a click of a button!

You have made your plans and have a Doc or Slides presentation you want your learners to have their own copy, like a template.  You have created this document in your drive.  Now all you need to do is add this document to your Assignment in Schoology.

The document will be found in a particular folder where the educator can check on the progress.  Learners will turn in their assignment by clicking the "Submit" button.  Educators can grade the assignment from one spot!

Schoology and Google were just made to be used together!  How do you see yourself using this feature in the near future?

Game Changer!

It is so exciting to see educators embracing strategies to make a difference in their classrooms.  The district I work for is in their 3rd year of implementing a learning management system, Schoology.  We are using the enterprise version of Schoology.  At the secondary level, all educators house everything for their learners in this one location.  Oh, how I wish I had a tool like this when I was in school! It's a game changer for learners!  Everything thing you need to keep up with dates and assignments can be found in one place!  Skip turning through pages and pages in a notebook with dividers that hopefully didn't fall apart while you are walking in crowded hallways from class to class.  With Schoology, learners are able to access everything from their phone, iPad, or laptop.  Yes!

But the real game changers occur when we move beyond the basics of a learning management system.  How can this tool transform how you communicate with your learners?  How can I be there for each of my learners when they need help?

Our foreign language educators had a game changing moment for her learners and was so excited to share with me what she did.  This past summer she had taken time to learn some of the more unique features of Schoology.  She was preparing her learners to present to their classmates  using only Spanish at the beginning of the school week.  At the end of the previous week she asked her learners to use the Schoology audio recording feature to practice their presentation before hand.  Over the weekend, as learners where adding their recordings the educators was able to provide immediate feedback!  As a learner asked for help for the pronunciation the educators was able to bridge all space and time!  What a difference this made for the presentations in class!!

It's so exciting to see educators and learners embracing tools to make the learning experience personal, relevant, and timely!  How are you using technology to connect with your learners?
